It all started at a wedding.

Maid of Honor met the Best Man. Sparks flew.
Nah. Just kidding. It was more like: "We're here for a wedding. And I noticed you." And also, I'm too busy with all the wedding duties to spend any time talking to you.
But the girl's best friend decided the two would be a good fit. She tried to connect them with an after-the-wedding group chat. The Maid of Honor, exhausted from all the wedding prep, fell asleep.
That could have been the end. Except the friend was persistent. The friend relied on group texts. A sneaky move under the guise of picture sharing. And before anyone knew what happened, the two had taken their relationship to a non-group level.
There was just one problem. They lived in different states.
But that was a minor inconvenience. They had technology at their fingertips. Texts flew back and forth throughout the day. And they chatted by video each night. Monthly visits kept them (and the airline industry) going.
The couple joyfully celebrated each month-a-versary. Hiking. Running. Camping, Kayaking.
She'd comment on the beautiful rings in the jewelry case. He'd make commentary about the benefits of 2-year courtships.
For their 12 month-a-versary, the now former Best Man selected a lovely hike at South Tahoe. And he chose that particular time to get on one knee and ask a very serious question. Except the maid thought he was joking.
"Well?" He held the ring toward her, shaking it a bit for emphasis. "What do you say?"
She said yes.
