Even the rocks will cry out…

Ever felt as enthusiastic as a rock? That's been my life these past few weeks.

It's amazing what a change in medication can do. Apparently I'm one of the special ones whose bodies don't convert thyroid meds well. That leaves me tired and a little brain numb. So not only did I feel as energetic as rock, by evening I was about as bright as one.
But, I still marvel at God's goodness. I've been contemplating Philippians 3:5-8:
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
That is GOOD NEWS! So good that if all of humanity suppresses the news, the stones will declare God's goodness. As Jesus said:
"I tell you, if my followers didn’t say these things, then the stones would cry out.”
Inspired by these verses, and the recent Passover/Easter season, I thought I'd share something I wrote a few years back. I call it Testimony.
The Son of God leans on a rock and stares into the sky.
And in the dark God hears a voice cry, “Father, Father, Why…?”
Forsaken and alone he weeps, while closest friends give in to sleep.
The rocks cry out in witness, “He is the Son of God!”
The darkened skies testify He’s who He claims to be.
While mortals sleep the heavens keep their eyes upon the Son
….now mortified, soon crucified, the Holy, Chosen One.
Jesus hangs above a rock which holds His cross up to the sky
And in the dark God hears a voice cry, “Father, Father, Why…?
Heartbroken all of heaven weeps, as God gives in to death’s sweet sleep.
The rocks cry out in witness, “He is the Son of God!”
The darkened skies testify He’s who He claims to be.
While mortals weep the heavens keep their eyes upon the Son
….now crucified, soon glorified, the Holy, Chosen One.
An angel moves a mighty rock, hand stretched toward the sky.
And in the dark God hears a voice call, “Son of God, Arise
Your Father calls you, go to Him.” And Jesus rises to His feet.
The rocks cry out in witness, “He is the Son of God!”
The darkened skies testify He’s who He claims to be.
While mortals sleep the heavens keep their eyes upon the Son
….now glorified, and sanctified the Holy, Chosen One.
